Schubert Hungarian Melody

Today’s post is a remarkably beautiful miniature from Franz Schubert—written in supposed Hungarian style!  I talk a bit about the ways that Schubert tries to suggest a Hungarian idiom as well as beginning to discuss some of the special qualities that I love about this composer.  We will be having many more videos on Schubert in the future so please stay tuned!

Dear Mr Anderson, I have just now discovered you after a Sydney Schubert Society Schubertiade which included this piece in its longer version, for four hands.
Love your erudite introductions and sensitivity, the illuminating learning and imagination you bring to each piece you present.

I’ve long wished to learn about the structure of various musical forms and be capable of utilizing these concepts as I listen. I do appreciate the way you are offering this!
Thank you, Cole, Bravo!
